Our Philosophy
At Carolyn's School, we believe that martial arts training is not just about physical fitness, but also about mental and emotional growth. Our philosophy is based on the principles of respect, self-discipline, and perseverance. We strive to create a positive and supportive environment where students can learn and grow both on and off the mat.
Our Program
Our program offers VSK Jujitsu and kickboxing classes for both children and adults at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. Classes are held Thursdays and Fridays from 4:30 PM – 7:00 PM, with Saturday sessions from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM.
We proudly welcome newcomers to try a free class and experience the benefits of martial arts training in a supportive and engaging environment. Whether you're looking to build confidence, improve fitness, or develop self-defense skills, our program provides a space for students of all experience levels to grow and succeed.
Our Mission
At Humble Quest School of VSK Martial Arts, our mission is to build discipline, confidence, and strength through high-quality martial arts instruction rooted in tradition, respect, and community. Inspired by the leadership and legacy of Shihan Carolyn M. Howard, we are dedicated to empowering youth and adults to develop self-defense skills, mental resilience, and strong character both on and off the mat.
Through a supportive and inclusive environment, we encourage every student to embrace perseverance, pursue excellence, and embark on a lifelong journey of learning, leadership, and self-discovery.
Meet the instructor
Shihan Howard's History
Shihan Howard holds the rank of 3rd Degree Black Belt in VSK Jujutsu and has also earned the rank of 5th Degree Black Belt in Karate, certified through the International Independent Martial Artists Association (IIMAA). Her martial arts journey reflects decades of discipline, technical excellence, and deep commitment to the traditions and evolution of the art.
She is especially recognized as the first female Black Belt under Grandmaster Abdul Azeez Muhammad. She further refined her skill and teaching under the guidance of Professor Dominque Breioche.
